A few handy details for your Tiger Moth stay. Pick a topic below, then get back to looking forward to your escape to the river.
What to Bring
Please bring:
- Food provisions, medical supplies, and personal essentials for your entire stay. The nearest shops are in Machadadorp (eNtokozweni) and Carolina, each about a 40-minute drive from the house.
- Firelighters.
- Charcoal if you like to add it to your wood fires.
- Pizza ingredients if you'd like to use the clay pizza oven by the river.
- Hiking gear – the hikes are wonderful!
- Swimming costumes for the hot tub and river swims. Please check the river current before swimming. We have life jackets available for one medium-size adult and two children, plus two additional swim aids/buoys.
- Tabard for ticks if you plan to go hiking in summer.
- Fishing rods and gear if you'd like to fish in the river by the house.

Coffee
Slow mornings, river views, and a good cup of coffee. We've got you covered with two machines to suit your morning mood.
The easy-going option
Our easy-to-use capsule machine keeps things simple: pop in a capsule and let your holiday begin. The coffee machine uses standard Nespresso-compatible capsules (Original style, approx. 37 mm across the rim × 30 mm high; not Vertuo).
For the bean enthusiasts
The Sprada Executive turns fresh coffee beans into a proper coffee moment. It's the more expert option, so please only use it if you know how to operate it.

Please bring your own coffee capsules and/or coffee beans. Complimentary instant coffee and a selection of teas are provided.
Firewood
Firewood is available at Komati Gorge Lodge and at Tiger Moth for R50 per bundle.
Buying from the Lodge
Please arrange and pay for your firewood directly with the Lodge while you are there.
Buying at the house
You can pay us in advance by EFT so Gift can prepare the wood for your arrival, or pay Gift in cash during your stay.
How much will you need?
If you plan to use wood liberally throughout the weekend in the fireplaces, boma, and hot tub, we estimate you'll need around 20–30 bags. As a guide, keeping the hot tub hot uses around 5 bags every 3 hours.
